A Treasury of Bellringing Stories is a new little book by Alexia Beale who rings at Buckland and Betchworth in Surrey.
It’s a collection of short stories, very similar to the stories that we exchange with each other in the pub after ringing! Tales of being stuck in the belfry, of a composer who wants to incorporate bells into his music, and of secret passages.
Alexia has gone a step further than us and has actually written down her stories. We are told that they are purely fiction, but they are so familiar to us that we can all relate to them. This little book is an ideal present for someone learning to ring, or for someone who is just interested to hear the sorts of things that happen to us in our belfries.
